Here are a few recent projects. I hope you will take a moment to learn more about my writing and design.

WRITING: ‘The old and new of pét-nat’

In a world where people often equate sparkling wine with Champagne or prosecco, it’s tempting to call pét-nat new (after all, it’s just now showing up on restaurant menus and in wine shops here).

But pétillant naturel, or pét-nat for short, isn’t new at all. In fact, it is made with an ancient technique called méthode ancestrale that far predates the way most sparkling wines are made today.

DESIGN: College of Science College Profile Magazine

The Clemson University College of Science 2019 College Profile is a magazine that recaps the achievements of the College of Science during the last year. The magazine was published in August 2019. It was commercially printed as well as made available online. I led the design and layout of this product, and also shot many of the photographs (including the cover image, which was used by other media worldwide) that it included.

DESIGN: College Viewbook

The Clemson University College of Science Viewbook is a recent example of my publication-management, editing and design skills. This 28-page piece features high-quality printing using a combination of process and spot inks as well as aqueous and spot-UV coatings to deliver our message in an elegant, classy manner.

I worked with the Clemson student services director to develop this piece and coordinate content creation. Many of the photos in this book were purpose-shot for this project, either by me or by a freelance photographer with whom I worked closely.

Separately, I also created a complementary graduate viewbook. Both may be viewed online.

DESIGN: Hardcover Book Cover

Another recent project was a hardcover book, "Eclipse Over Clemson: The Day Tigertown Will Never Forget." More than a dozen of my photos from this amazing day appear in this book, and I also had the privilege of designing the cover. You can find out more about this book, and purchase a copy for yourself, at Amazon. If you’re unfamiliar with this event, the book’s editor, Jim Melvin, sums it up nicely:

The Aug. 21, 2017, total solar eclipse was a once-in-a-lifetime experience attended by more than 50,000 people. A team of writers and photographers chronicled this rare celestial event. This high-quality, keepsake book contains a poem by renowned Southern author Ron Rash, essays from a variety of Clemson University experts, and dozens of full-page color photos of the eclipse, the event and the people in attendance.
